It is always good to arrive with some currency. Depending on the day and time of day you arrive, you may not be able to get to a bank or ATM before you need a cup of coffee, train ticket, taxi fare etc.

Everyone should check with his or her own bank first, as many banks offer that service. ATMS give the current exchange but may charge a fee. Usually hotels do not offer the best rate of exchange. It maybe possible if you get a note from your doctor and make a copy or two so if they take one you will still have one for the return.  Show that note when you are getting your seat assignment and also check-in with whom ever you want to sit with on the plane.
